ChinaSource is entering a new season of leadership transition. After prayerful reflection and conversation with the Board, Rev. Kerry Schottelkorb has shared his intention to retire from his role as President of ChinaSource.
In response, the ChinaSource Board has begun a thoughtful process to identify the next leader who will help guide the organization into its next chapter of ministry.
Succession planning began in late summer 2025 through conversations between Kerry and the Board. Over the following months, this work has continued through prayer, listening, organizational reflection, and the development of a President Profile. To help steward this season with care and discernment, the Board has appointed a Transition Committee made up of current and former Board leadership and trusted leaders with deep organizational history.
On behalf of the Board and Transition Committee, I want to express our deep gratitude for Kerry’s faithful leadership and years of service to ChinaSource. As we enter this transition, our desire is to honor Kerry well, preserve and strengthen what is best about ChinaSource, and prayerfully discern the right leader for the next season.
Founded in 1997, ChinaSource has served as a trusted platform for helping the global church understand and engage the church in China and Chinese communities around the world. Through publications, convening, research, and relationships, ChinaSource seeks to foster thoughtful dialogue, deepen understanding while facilitating and supporting timely ministry partnerships in God’s global mission.
During Kerry’s tenure, ChinaSource has continued to serve readers, ministry leaders, churches, and partners by providing context, connection, and trusted reflection on critical issues facing Chinese Christianity. As ChinaSource looks toward the future, the Board remains committed to the organization’s mission and to the collaborative spirit that has shaped its work for nearly three decades.
How thankful I am for the joy and privilege of serving God and his purposes for ChinaSource, walking alongside so many teammates, faithful partners, contributors, intercessors, and dear friends over the years,” Kerry reflected. “I am grateful for the ways God has deepened and expanded this ministry, and am confident that he will continue to lead and empower ChinaSource for the advance of his kingdom in this next season.
The Transition Committee is now expanding the search and inviting the wider ChinaSource community to participate through prayer and referrals. We are seeking leaders who understand ChinaSource’s mission, value its role as a trusted bridge and platform, and can help strengthen its service to the church in China, the Chinese diaspora, and the global church.
This search is not only an organizational process; it is a season of prayerful discernment. We are grateful for the many friends and partners who know ChinaSource and care about its mission.
We invite readers to review the President Profile and prayerfully consider whether you know individuals who may be a strong fit for this role.
Confidential referrals or questions about the process may be directed to the Transition Committee at [email protected].
The Board’s hope is to identify the next President in fall 2026, with plans for a thoughtful leadership transition before the end of the year.
As ChinaSource walks through this season, we invite our readers, partners, and friends to pray for wisdom and discernment for the Transition Committee and Board, grace for Kerry as this transition unfolds, and God’s clear leading as we seek the right next leader for ChinaSource.
