Exciting New Territory!

Happy Chinese New Year from everyone on the ChinaSource team! We are joyfully looking forward to the year ahead, as the Lord guides us into exciting new territory, promising to be both faith-stretching and God-glorifying, by his grace.

Chinese Christianity is undergoing one of the most significant transitions in its modern history, and ChinaSource is honored to be part of God’s global movement to glorify his name and advance his kingdom by learning from, growing with, and partnering with the church in China and the diaspora. Not surprisingly, this is taking place through a convergence of partnerships between the global church and the Chinese church, at a time when missional collaboration is essential.

A Fresh New Day for a Number of Reasons

  • A new generation of Chinese leaders is emerging.
  • Diaspora communities are rapidly expanding.
  • Ministry environments inside China are intensifying; new Kingdom wineskins are being prepared for new wine.
  • The global church is seeking trustworthy understanding and deeper connection with Chinese Christians.

This Moment Requires:

  • Global intercessory prayer for the church in China and the diaspora—for global partnership in the gospel
  • Deepening spiritual formation and renewal
  • Cross-cultural understanding
  • Intergenerational wisdom: equipping and empowering emerging leaders
  • Strategic ministry partnerships
  • Faithful, discerning insight resulting in actionable, missional discipleship

A Renewed Vision in a New Era

This month we have entered the public and final phase of a three-year capital vision campaign called A Renewed Vision for the Chinese Church in a New Era. Our goal has been to raise $1.8 million in cash and pledged gifts to respond to the vision God has given us. Already, several close friends of ChinaSource have provided $940,000; over half of the total goal! Our goal during this phase is to raise $860,000 in cash gifts and pledges, and we would be very grateful for your prayerful support.

A Vision with a Plan

Following are the key priorities encompassing the ChinaSource strategic plan. Each is designed to meet the urgent needs of this moment and is the ministry focus of the vision campaign:

1. Activating Strengthening Prayer: Building a global network of informed intercessors lifting up China, the diaspora, and emerging leaders.

2. Connecting Hearts: Expanding the global reach of ChinaSource; enhancing our digital structure for a global audience; strengthening unity in Christ across cultures and generations.

3. Engaging Minds: Elevating Chinese voices through bilingual content to help shape global understanding.

4. Catalyzing Partnerships: Collaborative action advancing the gospel worldwide.

Timely Progress

With God’s help, and thanks to earlier campaign commitments, we are seeing remarkable progress:

  • A global intergenerational community praying with unity and purpose
  • Expanded bilingual content: A new goal that all ChinaSource content will ultimately be available in Chinese and English.
  • Vital New Staff: Key new staff have been added in the areas of operations, editing, content, translation, IT, and communications.
  • The new ChinaSource website has been launched.
  • 132,000+ global website users
  • Increased Chinese authorship: From 33% to 64%
  • 54 new partnerships (and growing)

We Can Do This Together

For almost 30 years, ChinaSource has walked alongside the church in China, as well as the global church that has been seeking to engage with China. Along the way, Jesus has used ChinaSource to help build trusted relationships, bilingual resources, deep understanding, praying communities, and actionable, missional partnerships. Through this campaign, we can continue to build on this and equip a new generation of believers who will carry the gospel forward with wisdom, courage, and unity in Christ.

A Request and Invitation

On behalf of the ChinaSource team, I would like to ask you to take an hour or so with the Lord to visit the Vision Campaign page and prayerfully seek his direction regarding your involvementYou will find information on how to donate, as well as other ways to team with us. You will also find an executive summary explaining the mission of the campaign in detail, along with prayer points and campaign updates.

Then, if your vision is renewed like ours has been, we invite you to partner with us to help meet the needs of this generation, invest in the future of Chinese Christianity, and the advance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Thank you so much for your prayerful consideration. Have a blessed and renewing Chinese New Year!
